I can change in Christ. I can resist temptation in Christ. I can be obedient in Christ. Because I am positionally righteous in Christ, I can start to live more practically righteous out of the righteousness that I find in Christ. I love you. This is one thing that can change everything for you. And for those of you who are navel-gazers, and self-condemners, and those who think that the worse you feel the holier you are, it’s time to look up and out, and to not just see your sin but see your Savior, and to see yourself as a saint in Christ.
The Art of Thinking Brilliantly
An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered.
Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.
Can a man be profitable to God? Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself. Is it any pleasure to the Almighty if you are in the right, or is it gain to him if you make your ways blameless?
Is it for your fear of him that he reproves you and enters into judgment with you? Therefore snares are all around you, and sudden terror overwhelms you, or darkness, so that you cannot see, and a flood of water covers you.
Is not God high in the heavens? See the highest stars, how lofty they are! But you say, “What does God know? Can he judge through the deep darkness? Thick clouds veil him, so that he does not see, and he walks on the vault of heaven.”
Agree with God, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you. Receive instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart. If you return to the Almighty you will be built up; if you remove injustice far from your tents, if you lay gold in the dust, and gold of Ophir among the stones of the torrent-bed, then the Almighty will be your gold and your precious silver. For then you will delight yourself in the Almighty and lift up your face to God. You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you, and you will pay your vows. You will decide on a matter, and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways. For when they are humbled you say, “It is because of pride”; but he saves the lowly. He delivers even the one who is not innocent, who will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands.
Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word. (Proverbs 16:1 MSG)
Are you down on yourself today because of past mistakes you’ve made or because you’re not where you want to be in life? God knows every poor choice, every difficulty, every wrong turn you may have made, and He’s already planned your comeback! In scripture, Jonah took a detour, so to speak. It took him a little bit longer, but because he called out to God, because he believed, God not only rescued him, but God got him to his final destination.
Friend, know today that failure is not final. God always has the final say. Mistakes don’t have to keep you from your destiny. God’s plan can override every setback. Your world may be in turmoil today in a relationship, in your finances or health. But know this: not only will God rescue you; He will set your feet on a rock and lead you to your final destination in life. Remember, the promise He placed on the inside of you didn’t go away because you had some personal failures. No, that failure is only temporarym but His Word remains forever! Keep hoping, keep believing because He will move you into the blessing and victory He has prepared for you!
Prayer for Today:
Father God, thank You for Your hand of victory and blessing that is on my life. Today, I shake off the past, I shake off failure, I shake off poor choices and trust that You are restoring me and leading me into the plan You have for me in Jesus’ name. Amen!
I got in my car, bought a down blanket, and said, ‘OK, God, I’m going to get in my car and I’m going to drive up the northwest coast. And wherever you want me to stay, I pray that you will provide for me. Wherever you want me to go, I’m going to hear your voice there.’
I ended up in the Redwood Forest. I was just going to keep driving through, but there was this intensity of God’s presence there that was almost frightening. I couldn’t drive through that forest without getting out and absorbing whatever was there. I sat down among these huge trees; many of them existed around the time that Jesus was walking this Earth. And I looked out and just felt the presence of God falling on me and refreshing me. Laying my hand on this tree, I thought about how it had seen ages and ages, years after years of change. It had a timelessness to it, and I saw that God in all of his strength and all of his wisdom had been watching, knowing, and most of all, understanding. I felt the love of God when I laid my hand on that tree, a confirmation of his love that I’d never experienced before that moment.
